So, I recently purchased my first S13 240sx with a redtop SR20det. And the only problem with it was the clutch.

I had a budy of mine look at it, and was "supposed" to fix it, but ended up not getting to it. First he thought it was a slave cylinder, so I bought one for an 89 240sx. We put that one, and it seemed like the clutch fork would extend all the way, and the slave cylinder piston would come all the way out/off the fork.

So then my friend suggested it was a bent fork?

So yesterday I dropped the transmission.

I don't know much about these engines/trannys. Any suggestions?Thanks

Sorry dude, you're gonna need to describe your problem a little better than that.

Are you saying that when you disengage the clutch, the slave cylinder piston comes right out of the cylinder and slips off of the fork?I'm assuming the clutch still disengages?

I don't know what I'm looking for in these pics!

Oops, sorry about that.

Well when I would engage the clutch, it would cause the piston from the slave cylinder to come off.

Which would kick it off of the fork.

And I was posting pics, to see if anything looked out of place? Or if anything looked bad?

Alright so I removed the fork, and throw out bearing.......

What is this part exactly that's broken? And could this have been causing my problems?

Yup that's ur problem. Bad throwout bearing. Get another one, make sure to pack it with lithium grease per FSM (downloadable), and that it moves freely on the input shaft.

While you have the transmission out check the other clutch parts. A new clutch is pretty cheap ($125 including to bearing) compared to the trouble involved in transmission removal. Personally unless the clutch is pretty new I would put a new one in.

Found out, that piece that was sticking out, was the tubular case on the Front Cover that surrounds the input shaft.

It had snapped off, and was stuck in the throw out bearing.

I got a new throw out bearing, and am going to get the front cover from a junkyard tomorrow, that I found that has a 240sx transmission.

Oh the front cover of the transmission broke. That's unusual. I was wondering where the little pieces came from.

Replace the gasket and front oil seal while you're in there.
