Ok, I recently replaced the engine in my '92 240SX with a KA from a '93. The motor went in fine, and had a almost new clutch on it (Had about 1500 miles before the guy pulled it for a SR). My problem was, after I installed the motor, my clutch pedal was all the way to the floor and would not return back up. I suspected a bad Slave Cylinder or Master, and since they were both cheap, I bought the pair and set about replacing them. When I attempted to install the Slave Cylinder, I noticed that the clutch fork wouldn't move, it seemed to be jammed. Frustrated, I pulled the transmission out (Which was fine before the motor died - 87k on it) and looked for the problem. I noticed that the clutch fork had slipped off of the throw out bearing. I put the fork back in its proper place, made sure the little spring clip was in place, and tested it. The throwout bearing moved fine. Ok, so I re-installed the transmission and tried to move the fork again. No luck, it is now jamed AGAIN. I pulled the fork dust boot off of the bellhousing and looked in with the flashlight, and it doesn't look like the throwout bearing is engaging the clutch at all. Now, after all of this, my question is the throwout bearing on a 92 transmission different than the bearing on a 93? Are the clutches different? I am not sure what the problem is here, and I would really like to get my car back on the road. I figured that this was a great place to check before I had to take it to a shop and pay crazy labor prices for something that I could have done myself.
Thanks,Adam
