my dad is making me fix my car now, what all do i need to fix it? and what comes in the clutch kit at autozone. at advanced auto parts theres a clutch set for 100$, includes the disc, pressureplate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing/bushing, alignment tool, cavoertype-Diaphragm, 8 7/8" clutch 24spline, 1"hub

besides the torque wrench, what else will i need, including other parts, glue's, and lubercants?

i havent heard good things about those clutches. you might want to go with somthing better even if its an oe replacement. try exceddy. you will need the pressure plate, pilot bearing, clutch disk, throw out bearing, gear oil ( you have to drain the transmission), 1/2 inch drive ratchet for the transmission drain plug, wheel bering grease for the imput shaft on the transmission ( make sure not to get any on the clutch disk), ratchet and many different sizes, thread sealent for the drain and fill plugs, i think thats it. and be ready to do without your car for a while as you have to drop the whole transmission

Yup, 240kid is right, but I wanted to mention that it isn't necessary to spend large amounts on expensive clutches or gear oil. He is mentioning some excellent stuff, but its pricey. The kit you originally mentioned may be fine. The problem is that most of the time, Kragen/Autozone kits are not as good as OEM components. This can lead to early failure. On the other hand, if you pick up the local yellow pages, I bet you can find a decent brake/clutch parts supplier. These guys will have many options available as to brand and quality of their kits. It will give you an idea of the cost and whats available as a factory replacement. Then you can go to Exidy, Spec, or ACT and see if what they have is in your price range for the quality you want.

Same goes for things like gear oil. I personally wouldn't bother putting premium gear oil in an old tore-up transmission. I would buy good stuff, just not the insanely marketed, highly hyped liquid gold. Save that for your brand new transmission when you go turbo.

ACT is really not expensive at all. a organic-disc stage 1 clutch would be fine for a little more grip for a low price. Keep in mind you will have to re-learn how to drive your clutch a little, for it will be a stiffer engagement. And you definately do not want to get a stock clutch unless it is actual Nissan OEM parts that say nissan on the box or bag.You just cant know with anything else.

Man I got an ACT stage 2 from MVP MotorSports (Check sidebar) for 275 dollars. it's rated to 260 Ft/lbs even though I don't have that much, but hey for the price it's better then Store brands, just a little extra

its just from what ive heard, the autozone/advance auto clutches tend to slip when they heat up, whitch can lead to glazing, which will mean you will have to buy a more expensive clutch and will be out 100.i got my exceddy stage one for 224

well i bought this one

and yea it does suck

its came up slipping 3 times

been replaced several times

the second time i got a life time warranty

now its just the biatch of doing the labor

and a clutch should only take 4-8hrs

not a few days

the only hard part about a clutch is the damn 2 top bolts on the transmission
