I've searched around Google for what's a good brand for a clutch kit I can get for my money but most of them are WAY too outdated.

Currently I'm running Spec Stage 3 clutch but I bought my car with this pre-installed. I'm not sure how much life it has left but it's becoming super easy to pull down my clutch and I was wondering how much longer I have? I was told that the car was originally built to drift but they parted it out and made it into a standard daily driver.

Could you guys recommend a good Clutch Kit I can grab for a daily driver and if possible could you guys tell me roughly how much longer I have on my clutch?

Dude go with an ACT 6 puck sprung, I'll dig up the part number. But it's awesome some expected chatter, but the thing works like a champ an is good up to like 480 hp which I think is way more then most of us would see on our ca's.
That's my choice as well as a few others on here I would imagine. You'll know when your clutch is about to go when you start losing power and notice slight "slipping" on acceleration. I mean really you can't miss the feeling. :werd:

Yea, if it's not slipping, I wouldn't worry about it yet. I'm a fan of SPEC personally, but I'm a wuss and like the VERY light pedal pressure offered by SPEC clutches. I have no experience with ACT.

I know it's probably been asked all over Nico before, but I only stick around this slightly more "tight-knit" community here in the CA18 section.

How do you guys like F1 Racing (sold on eBay) clutches? I bought a used F1 Stage 3 six puck clutch with low miles on it, but I'm kinda skeptical of it. It does have EXEDY stamped on the pressure plate, but since it's from eBay, I'm not so sure that means anything. I just really don't want to have to change clutches after I put the engine in my car, and I really don't want a mushy clutch either.

I'm looking into buying a Spec Stage 3 with 200 miles on it if I decide not to go with the F1.

In the future if I were to change out my clutch what brand clutch would you guys recommend?
I heard you can take a KA clutch, remove a pin and drill a hole to fit it on a CA but I don't trust myself doing something like that.

Dude its a breeze to do. Im running a ka clutch. The pin pulls right out and u dont need to drill the wholes.....i used a file to just widen the ones i needed. I felt like i had more control on the amout removed. And all this in my first time installing a clutch at all

Is there any write-ups on shaving and installing that I could find?

Dude just stick with a ca specific clutch. Spec stage 3 + is the way to go with spec if you want around the 350 hp holding range, and ACT if you want something that's probably going to never ever break on you higher hp and don't mind slightly harsh engagement until you've really broken it in, and something that's going to last a reallllly long time and constant abuse. If you want easy engagement go full face, if you want light weight crazy performance go puck and sprung, and if you want full race go puck and un-sprung solid disk. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT USE AN F1 RACING CLUTCH THAT GARBAGE WILL GO TO #$@%# After like 5,000 miles and you'll be kicking yourself. THEY DO MAKE A GREAT CHROMOLY SINGLE PIECE FLYWHEEL!!!!! I love it, but that is not a clutch. I had a friend who did all the proper break in on his F1 clutch and I kid you not 2 months later we were back under his 240 taking the pos out! A CLUTCH is NOT something you want to skimp out on buy a QUALITY product that people have used before and learn from their mistakes!
I mean if you wanted to really go baller you could even go OS Giken as they make a complete kit for the CA, but that is some serious $$$$$ So all in all depending on what you want go Exedy/Spec/Act and never look back:D :dblthumb:

I gotta upgrade my clutch at some point. I was using the unknown-miles presumed-stock clutch that came on the motor... with no problems. :D

Granted I was only making a bit more than stock power (due to I/E mods, I doubt it'd be more than 10-20hp at max).

Clutch-wise, I'm in the "wuss" department probably. I'd rather have something that feels like stock engagement. I'd be looking at no more than 350 probably (even though my new turbo will be able to do more, possibly, I don't plan to run it at ludicrous boost).

So F1's flywheels are OK? 14lbs and $200ish (ebay pricing) isn't bad..

I see XTR branded flywheels that look identical and same specs looks like for same price as the F1 too, anyone know of these really are the same?
I also see XTD which is 13 lbs.

XTR / F1 racing appear to be one piece units including the ring gear teeth? XTD looks like the teeth may be made of a separate metal and press fit in or something. XTD seller claims "All of XTD's ring gears are heat treated for durability. They are heated, pressed on and then secured using grade 10 fasteners. This flywheel is Imported direct from Japan. " F1 / XTR sellers are using identical blurbs: "The ring gear teeth are milled onto the flywheel unlike an aluminum flywheel where the ring gear is pressed onto the flywheel may have the possibility of separating. "

Well this is my first car and the clutch is SUPER easy to push down (I also learned how to drive stick with this car too). I'm assuming I have a Spec stage 3 clutch but not 100% positive. I do know for a fact that I have a Stage 3 clutch though. I don't know the miles on t he clutch but I bought the car with only 50k miles on my CA, so I'm assuming it has around that many miles but the one thing is this car was originally built to drift on tracks but then converted to a DD. So how worn down the clutch is as good of a guess as mine.
