Hello, I am looking for a good clutch suggestion for my 1990 240sx, ka24e.

I am looking for something in the middle of peformance, not looking at doing any massive racing at this time...

Thanks...

Billiam

Since you didn't mention your power, turbo, etc. I'm going to assume it's pretty much stock? Most pertinant info that should be contained when looking for a clutch btw... Get a used stock clutch for dirt cheap and save your money for something that will add power (turbo).

if your car is pretty much stock than a stock clutch will do just fine however i suggest buying a new one, thay are cheap. if you really want a little more clamping power you can go with a stage 1 setup, i like clutchmaster but im running a exedy, to be honest i wish i would have gotten a heavier pressure plate but it will still lock up nicely. remember you are only pushing 140hp out of that sohc its not gonna need a huge clutch.

Thanks for the suggestions... my first post so yes I did forget to mention my power options.. I am pretty sure the engine is stock there are no "obvious" additions to the engine that I can see. I am thinking about the stage 1.. I feel that if I am gonna get in there and do it I really dont want to do it again for awhile and thats the reason for the upgrade thought and going with something in the middle. I am not looking to turbo at this time, I am more looking to make sure that its road ready suspension wise to insure that nothing breaks if I choose to go over the speed limit.... lol btw.. when you say you wish you would have gotten a different pressure plate what exactly are you talking about. I am looking at Exedy and ACT clutches btw...

the pressure plate holds the clutch disk to the flywheel and is what applies pressure to the clutch when you release the pedal. when you replace a clutch its reccomended to replace both as well as your throwout bearing. i wish i would have gotten a heavier clutch. it wont clamp as hard as i would like it to but i like a really rough car. really it wont matter much for you as its likely if you decide to boost you will end up in the same boat as me. any clutch you can live with driving now will inevitably be too weak do deal with boost and getting a heavier clutch now will make daily driving a b**ch. go with the stage one you will be happy.

Stage one huh? price wise they are only 20 bucks different if I go with the ACT. I want some durability and strength will I get that with the stage one?

Hey moso, I see you live in New Orleans, I lived there for two summers... Gretna and marrero or something like that.. TerryTown?

That was many moons ago btw....

thats funny cause i grew up in cuyahoga falls, oh. you should be good with the stage 1. clutch stages are rated in hp/torque ratings and if your stock you should be well under the stage 1 limits. if you want you can google your stock motor specs and compare them with your clutch manufacturers clutch spec sheets.

Small world...

Well looks like I will stick with a stage 1, since I am not planning on any immediate boosting options.. I bought this car as a project car and something to hand down to my 15 year old son. So I am sure his plans are a lot more than mine.

Thanks for all the imput.

id go stage four ebay special. My friend hasnt had any problems with his, it doesnt over heat, and it grabs very nicely. I have a stage two and it seems to over heat when i start to chocku into corners and on straightaways. so you might as well spend the extra $50 bucks and get a stage four that does wonders. Im gonna get one when i get my Sr running
