im going with the fidanza flywheel but am not sure on what clutch to get.

my s14 will mostly be street driven with moderate track use so i want a clutch that will be comfortable on the street.

im thinking about going with the exedy stage 2 thick clutch

or

the stage 2 competition clutch.

any suggestions?

if you want something streetable(depends on who you are kinda) a competition clutch would not be my idea...

how about a white bunny with a light weight fly wheel and 280zx turbo clutch disc/pressure plate? if you have a nice budget. I went cheap white bunny with parts from autozone/lifetime warranty, its a little heavier than stock, but that just gives the turbo time to spool

its really up to you and you goals.

personally I dont care for spec, pressure plates anyways, had a buddy come real close to losing his legs(shattered his bellhousing) and I had one fail on me as well but it was diff issue(the fingers bent) but I beat the hell out of a disc that was already used , for like 5k, then fuct it up sitting in the rain

how am I a retahd ? other than leaving the disc in the rain...(which was also an excuse to go white bunny , I am married you know)

But hands down spec before ebay! Other than a soft pedal(which adjustment may help) I love the white bunny clutch, and it was under 200 with lifetime warranty including the flywheel. Good luck looking at clutches that will hold 300+ inexpensively. No comment on reliability yet as I dont even have 300 miles on it, however I plan to go beat the f*** out of it tonight... fresh front tires yoko avids and fresh kendal oil change

I think its spelled RETARD guys. Leaving the disk in the rain is bad... Letting it get greasy is worse.

I've been running my ACT clutch for years, and I know people have had bad luck with them in the past. But mine held fine for the 40,000 miles I've put on it with the stock engine, once I max my fuel system it should start to get burned up, but at that point its preventing damage to other things by being an intentional weak link.

I say just pick a clutch from a trusted brand that will hold the TQ your car will make or a little more. Streetability and track don't normally mix well. There will almost certainly be some adjustment or compromise there.

I"ve had a few clutchs in 240s. I currently have and RPS that holds the power and feels nice and very predictable. Pedal pressure is moderate with a straight line with no dampner.

CompClutch stage 4 FTW. Although I ruined my 240 clutch in a little over 1 year and a 1/4. It was bacause of installer error. My friend said don't put to much grease on the input shaft. I didn't listen cuz I didn't want it to make noise. Well the grease flew onto the friction pads and literally ate them. Even brake clean will eat the pads. NO petroleum products can touch the pads ever!!!! So now I'm breaking in a stage 5. The reason I'm such a fan is because I've had a stage 4 in my Honda for 4.5 years w/ 300+ crank HP and it still eats tires and other cars no slippage!

I'm running a Spec Stage 3 in my KA-T. Love it.

Oh, and Brian is from Boston, so it IS spelled "retahd".

I got my SPEC before they redid the "stages". I have the old stage 3, 6 puck style clutch. It feels very similar to stock, accept in reverse. Reverse is a tad bit harder, but that might have been because I had to manipulate the car out of a typical AZ driveway with scraping the piss out of the lip spoiler.

I can only imagine Gregs car...

How many inches between your lip and the pavement Greg?

I'm personally using an ACT Extreme pressure plate, with their 6-puck ceramic, sprung disc.

I really like it. Has held up to 20psi daily for over a year now. Even bites hard when I get a few in me, and unplug the wastegate for some 28+psi runs. lol

One thing I addressed a while back, was the 'squishy' feel. But the guys at ACT said that the new run of clutches had fixed that issue.

Just my worthless $.02
