hey all,

I am just wondering, does anyone know if the 240sx clutch master cylinder is any different from the d21 one? They both say 5/8 inch on them, but the part numbers slightly differ on the parts websites. the slave cylinders - one is 3/4 inch one is 11/16 inch, is that a major difference? I would love to use the same parts on my d21 as the 240sx if anyone has input that would be great!

thanks,Marko

I would stic with stock so all the lines and fittings match up. Why change? would the 240 offer any advantage? I am all for upgrading things for better looks or power or strength, but I would stick with stock mechanical's for this. I see no advantage and would the lines and the bolt patter and the wiring all hook back up correctly. Easy way to see is go to parts store have them pull both and compare by EYE

If the master cylinders are the same, then the slave cylinder with the larger bore will require more pedal travel to go the same distance.

well the slave cylinders are pretty much the same besides the piston diameter, but the master cylinder difference is that the rod is longer on the truck master cyl than the 240 one, so it needs to be swapped over.

just an fyi for anyone who has a 240 master / slave cyl hanging around and needs to put one on their truck :D

cheersMarko

That is a really cool, make that very cool swap. The larger diameter M/C will make for a quicker clutch, which is better for hot rodding.

Post how it all works out, I woud like to hear your firsthand feedback!

PS, you can delete the clutch damper as well. A guy on another forum I belong to had problems engaging his 1st gear, and he said bypassing the damper solved his problem : )

the hard bodies have a clutch damper too? i deleted the one in my 240.. didn't see/realize the hardbody has it.. i wonder if that needs to be bled on the hard bodies as well? I had a hell of a time bleeding my clutch..

that's definately on my delete list :PMarko

edit: looked in the fsm and ur right, there is a damper. is it as easy to remove on the hard bodies as the 240sx? Just unhook it and take the outgoing line off and bend the incoming line to the slave cylinder soft line? Or do i need to extend the hardline?

The HB damper is mounted on the firewall, and I don't think the hardline will reach.
