So i was swapping out my sr today. I took the SR from the coupe into my fastback , which also had an SR. its because me and my buddy traded shells, and i wanted to keep my motor. It ran great, had no problems at all. I never took apart the transmission to change the clutch or anything so i dont know how this could have happened...but... It seems like the Fork is pushing the slave 2.4mm away from where it is supposed to be bolted onto. I had to pry the Fork back and have my friend put the slave cylinder on and put in the 2 bolts in first. It was really hard to pry since it was a spec stage II clutch...
now as i expected... It feels like the clutch isnt engaging 100%...maybe about 90%.....i can hear the bearing whine when i let off fully on the clutch pedal..
so since i FORCED the slave cyl onto its position and pushing the Fork back more, its like me pressing the clutch in a little bit. Which isnt doing me any good.
what do u guys think is the problem??
1. Fork = bent?
*I first thought that the piston on the clutch slave cyl was not Compressed all the way in... But it was... I had 3 people look at it already. 7 swaps...never had a problem like this before...
PICS TO HELP show you guys what im talking about::
1.This is how a proper slave cyl. is bolted on...
2.The problem i found....The fork was too far toward the slave...While the slave cyl was FULLY compressed...it still wouldnt mount on...!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
3.Soo....I used a pry bar to pry back the fork and had my friend push in the slave and put the bolts on....which, makes it engage a little bit...!!!
if i keep it like this...i can say goodbye to my clutch in a few days lol....so someone help please...I want to work on it the whole night but i cant..its my friends garage.. His dad wont let us.. So now since i cant sleep thinking about it...lol..someone help me with ideas.. =)
Someone mentioned shimming down the metal peice on top of the slave's piston where it connects to the fork for a easy way out? lol...
im pretty sure nothing internal...No grinds/shifts easily/but since its not fully engaging kinda making a wining noise...possibly the pilot bearing but its not anything loud AT ALL.
