Hi all, searched for a the subject but didn't find anything specific.

My clutch on my G37S just recently started shuddering/chattering when I shift from 1st to 2nd. It happens mostly when it hasn't been driven much all day and when I hammer the clutch. I can prevent this from happening by feathering the clutch and slipping it a bit. I've heard various opinions about whether clutch shudder was normal on some cars or not. I was wondering if this is something I should have the dealer take a look at.

Thanks.

Such behavior is never normal, but it is not uncommon. My Subaru Legacy had it when it was brand new. The dealer replaced clutch and flywheel under warranty. I have heard that Subaru had a run of bad flywheels. I bought my RX-7 shortly after the warranty expired. Its clutch has chattered intermittently from the day I bought it. That doesn't seem to have affected its life expectancy since the car now is 24 years old and just passed 189k miles.

You shouldn't have to put up with clutch problems on a brand new car that is still under warranty. Complain to your dealer.

what kendahl said is tru you dont have to deal with that even if you race your car a lot. the clucth works like the breakes. the rotor is th flywheel and the pads is the clutch. What do you do when you hit the breaks and then start shaking?? yea resurface the rotor(flywheel) in your case. now a days they should just replace it!
