Hello world...replacing my clutch on my 05 6MT G35 coupe and am looking forward to the day I have ahead of me. Decided on getting a Spec stage 2 clutch kit. Just trying to get all of my bearings together. As I said in my intro I am pretty new to this world but want to learn how to do "car" stuff on my own without paying out of the a** for mechanics to do it. I do have some friends that are very handy when it comes to car. Question is...do I need to replace my throw out bearing fork? What else do I need to get extra to complete this job this Saturday. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks for helping a noob.

Welcome to NICO!!

If you have the tools to safely do it, then have fun! I would replace the throw out bearing because it's a good time to do it. How many miles? How is the flywheel? You may want to replace that too...just know that the OEM is a dual-mass design. If you replace with a single mass (normal) flywheel, make sure it isn't too light or YOU WILL HAVE CHATTER! I'd also replace the clutch line...a good SS one is recommended.

Car has 73K miles on it. I've only had the car for a few months and I can only assume that the first owner saw The Fast and the Furious a few to many times. Thanks for the advice on the clutch line. I'll be sure to do it since I'll already be under there. Don't want to have to do this job again in the near to mid future.

If you don't have a ton of bolt on performance parts or forced induction, a stage 2 clutch is pointless, period. Like joe mentioned, the OEM flywheel can't be resurfaced and when you replace the clutch, that is the most important part of the process. So with that said, you will being buying new OEM one @ $1000.00 or an after-market setup. I have the ACT Street Lite weighing 17.9 lbs, chatter is very slight. The lighter you go from there, the noisier it will become. New clutch kit should come with a new throw-out bearing. My engine was replaced in my G with 52k miles on it, I also had the tech replace the clutch & flywheel when he was in there, that clutch was almost trashed.

Yeah I could see how it might seem like a waste but sadly I had to replace my clutch before anything. I do plan on adding some
Mods to the car and am doing my research as best I can. I'm looking forward to it. I love my Infiniti. Right now within the next few weeks. Replace clutch, cold air intake and go ahead and replace the exhaust. I've been reading a lot of the posts. And a friend of mine who I deployed with lives in Tokyo now but also gives me a lot of advice. Thank you for the responses!
