Well this will be #3

i was wondering by way of opininon or if anyone has done this.

i am going to be doing my clutch for the third time. first time the gear oil leaked all over my act clutch and it burned out in 22K.

next i used an 89 maxima clutch beacuse i was broke, it lasted about 24K!!

now i saved my old clutch and was wondering, if i simply buy a replacement act street/strip disk,

should i reuse my old pressure plate from the act clutch?

it was working well when it came out, the disk had been clearly destroyed/worn down to the rivits, but they hadn't scored the pressure plate. i would really like to save money on this and replace my stock motor mounts instead of buying another clutch kit!?!

let me know what you think or if you have done this before!

ps. the max clutch isnt too bad for 120bucks at local store as a cheap fix, i wouldn't totaly rely on it, just if you cant afford anything else it will get you moving again (this is my only car). i just give my car a hard time, love tha boost!

pps. if this should be posted somewhere else sorry, i couldnt find a drivetrain section?

As long as the pressure plate don't have excessive rust on it from sitting while you rack up 24k miles on your other clutch, you'll be fine. If you are really on a budget, I'd just buy a stock organic disk and use the ACT pressure plate. I've done so with my stock pressure plate once and it worked great till I got my SR.

Also do NOT use any thing other than a ACT clutch disc with an ACT pressure plate. ACT uses a HD marcel, the wavy metal that the friction material is riveted to, and it's designed to work with their pressure plates. Using a factory disc will cause the clutch to drag against the flywheel and prematurely wear out the synchros in your transmission when used with an ACT pressure plate. This is important and not exclusive to ACT so please consult with the manufacturer of your clutch when choosing to run a different clutch disc than the one supplied or designed for use with their pressure plate................This is some info I had pulled from a site that is big with the ACT clutches on another certian vehicle.....the wonderful thing about the ACT clutches is you can reuse the stock pressure plate many times with a new ACT disk, thats why you pay the extra price for the ACT.
