Im have trouble finding a way to remove the driveshaft to get the transmission out. I looked up how http://www.240sx.org did it and that didnt help all that much. Plus I've searched the forums and that didn't help too much either. I tried loosening the bolts that they showed but i can't get a socket on it and it feels like im going to round them out when I use wrenches. Are there special tools I need to remove the drive shaft? If someone could give me a detailed guide and possibly pictures to help would be awsome. Thanks!

yeah, you cant get a socket on the bolts. you need a long box wrench. put that on the nut. depending on your driveshaft you may need a backup wrench on the bolt or the flats may correspond with locking flats on the shaft.

Are you sure a box end wrench will work? I don't think there is enough clearance around the whole nut to fit a box end. Also, I was wondering if it's ok if I unbolt the diff end of the drive shaft and slide it out instead because the bolts farther up are 12mm and the ones in the back are 14mm, regardless I'm interested in your suggestions.

bolt size isnt really an issue. you have to unbolt both the dif and the transmission sides, as well as the carier bearing in the middle. when i did mine, i used a box end on the back and an air ratchet on the front part, the came right off. you can use a normal ratchet just fine too, it just takes a tad longer.

i guess i didn't explain well. I didn't think the box end wrench would fit around the circumfrence of the nut/bolt because of clearances around it.

i got the diff end unbolted and i called it quits for the night, i'll get back at it tomorrow and hopefully i can finish what i thought was going to be a 2 day tops job. If i unbolt the driveshaft support bracket do you think i can just slide the driveshaft out of the transmission? I'll get pictures up if it doesn't work out for me. Thanks 240kid for the help so far!

yes, it slides right out. put an oil catch pan under it, it will loose some fluid.

so what tool do i use to get the top bolt off of the passenger side of the transmission bell housing. Swivel sockets don't seem to work and I was wondering if i can get a box end wrench in there to turn it.

When i did mine, I just used a regular 10 mm wrench or whatever size it is. I think it's 10 or 12. I used the circle side of it, not the normal open side.

Anyways, it was super stubborn and I had to position myself to wear I can use my legs to push on something to help my arm torque that beastly *** nut. Finally came off after a few cuts and bruises.

But for sure, you DON'T want to strip these suckers, so make sure you have something that won't kill it.

Good luck
