I have a 1991 TT 5 speed. I am in the process of pulling engine. I have the transmission out already and would like to know if anyone has an opinion on cluch replacements. The car has 120K miles on it and it has OEM Nissan clutch in currently. I have no idea if it is the original or not, but while I got it out I mind as well replace it.

I have had the engine heads modified with new cams, port and polished heads, everything on the top end new. I am in the process of putting new Eagle rods and Wiseco pistions in. I have rebuilt stock OEM turbos and may upgrade...not sure yet. My goal is to have about 450 to 500 whp. My last dino at 5 lbs of boost was 312 whp.

I want something for the street, and maybe once or twice at the drag strip, but want an everyday driver.

Your input would be appreciated.Dale

Z1's Street Clutch Kit is good for 550lb-ft. The real number you're looking for when buying a clutch is torque. Torque will burn up your clutch. If it's going to be a street car get the lightest clutch you can (and still have it rated to hold your torque output). There is nothing worse than a race clutch on your daily driver.

That being said, with all your mods you might get a little boost happy from time to time, so make sure you leave enough headroom for that.

FX100 or 200 should be enough for what you are trying to do.

Not to thread-jack here, but what about Exedy clutches? I hear a lot of people use them in other makes with good results and they are super affordable.

exedy are good clutches. pretty much any of the mainstream clutch manufacturers will be good enough for a stock or near stock car. And for many who don't know, most good clutch components for imports are made by either daikin/exedy or valeo. From there its just a mix and match of components.
