i just bought my Nissan altima 2.5s and withing 22 days of buying the clutch has went bad and i had it replaced after alot of complaining about not wanting to pay for it. long story short i ended up paying for it. but now 2 weeks later with less than 500 miles on the new clutch the smell is still there and after cruising on the highway going about 85 mph for awhile then coming to a stop i can smell the burnt clutch smell strongly. idk if this is normal is the old smell is still there or if my car is messing up again. wat do i do about this should i worry??

I'm new to the world of Nissan, but I'm familiar with hydraulic actuated clutches.

I'm pretty sure the setup is nearly Identical to my Talon's setup.
The system consists of a clutch master and slave cylinder and hydraulic lines connecting the two.

There ought to be a rod that actuates the master cylinder, and it SHOULD be adjustable. I would assume so anyway.
Does your pedal start to engage right at the top of the pedal throw?

It shouldn't be engaging RIGHT at the top, but slightly further down.

It sounds to me like the system isn't properly adjusted and is slipping. (either that or you're riding the clutch)

You shouldn't be smelling clutch at all. And the smell from the old clutch shouldn't stick around for more than a few minutes.
Just curious, but have you owned a manual transmission before? I've seen some people ruin clutches pretty quickly because they don't know how to drive properly. Not saying you can't drive, but it IS a possibility.

I've had mechanics (year ago, I do all my own work these days) tell me that hydraulic clutches don't require any adjustment, but they often do regardless of what they tell you.

Hope that gives you some ideas to work with,

Chris.

When they did the "re-work" did they replace everything? If they just did the clutch itself, this is wrong. You need to replace the bearing and everything too. If not, you'll have problems.

Also, what do you mean by "re-work" lol.
