What exactly will a performance clutch do that the stock one won't?

They will handle a higher load, and may be lighter to reduce inertial resistance.

Once you modify a Z32 for performance, generally guys want to get a little more performance from the launch which takes more clutch grab, and a harder grab.
The OEM setup for a TT isn't really good enough once you modify to over 350HP, especially it's torque holding ability so you need more clamping force. For my TT, once I get the 530BB's on it along with my dual intake and at some point upgraded IC's and a tune, I'll be looking at around 400HP/400TQ, so I also got a 6-puck ceramic clutch kit rated at 450TQ to replace my fading stocker.

Also, the Z32's OEM linkage setup has some kinks to work out for better performance, specifically the pivot fork and ball as well as the 3 piece OEM hydraulic lines with two bleed points. The pivot lever arm and ball removes flex from the OEM arm, which makes for more consistent and smoother clutch action and pedal feel.

For a NA nothing, the stock clutch will handle the torque. Even with all the bolt ons. Unless you want a puck style for 1/4 mile launches. TT is a different story.

If you are changing out the clutch for after-market, might as well change the flywheel as well.

Just put a competition flywheel and Southbend Stage 3 Endurance clutch in the z and it is a beautiful combination and no more clutch slippage. OEM pedal feel and engagement....

We are now a southbend clutch dealer if anyone needs a good deal on a kit!!!
