Trying to get some somethign straight about my clutch situation. Here is the scoop

I burned out my stock clutch

I take my car to a local mechanic place with my own parts. I bought a OEM clutch off of ebay from acompany that sells clutches. So I take my clutch kit down there and they install it. My clutch kit recommended 500 mile break in and I planned on following that to the T. SO they fix it and my car drives good.

200 miles later-I go out for a late night drive. On the way home my car feels the same way it did when my clutch went out. I take it easy and get near my house. At a stop sign, my car will barely move. My RPM's were like 5K in first and I was doing aty most 10 mph. So I get home and check my fluids and whatnot and I had to move my wifes car back in the driveway so I put my car in gear to move...nothing. I got through every single gear and my car wont move.

Sunday-I go to my car to get the repair bill to call these fools up and say hey what the hell. That is a brand new clutch and it is burnt out already??? So for the hell of it I start my car and drive off......smooth sailing. The car drives awesome......WTF?? So I hold off on calling for a few days to see whats going on

Monday-Car drives like ***. This time my car was fully warmed up. Sunday when I drove it wasnt warmed up fully. So I call up the mechanics and they are like well we did our stuff good. Maybe it is a faulty clutch, but we wont warrant the clutch since you bought it and brought it in. So basically from my symptoms, I wanna know if this is clutch related or more than that. I have gotten a few ideas, buit.....A friend of a friend said from my symptoms...that is all clutch and he is a transmission guy.

Another thing that bothered me was there was no charge or documentation of transmission fluid. From my limited mechanical knowledge and having put this motor in the car...to change the clutch you ave to remove the transmission which means you have to remove the driveshaft which means fluid goes everywhere (I know first hand)..Now if the caught it...they COULD have used the same transmission fluid. IS that a common practice and is it even possible to do and would no transmission fluid cause any of my symptoms. Long post, but any help would be great. I just wanna give as much info as possible

we do clutches in all sorts of nissans and on rwd we loose nearly no fluid. when we get trans replacements from the factory they come with these cool plastic plugs since the trans is usually already preloaded with fluid. well we swipe these plastic plugs for our use when removing and replacing transmissions auto or manual. another way to prevent fluid loss is to cut the yolks off of old damaged drive shafts to use as plugs for such a job. so it is not unlikely that they never spilled a drop of fluid.

as for your clutch not engauging I think its your master cyl going out. do this simple test. when it is working ok have some one push on the pedal and observe the travel of your slave cyl. then when the clutch goes south on you do the same test and observe its travel. if its the master you should see a noticeable difference in travel. the problem is most likley your engine compartment gets around operating temp and your master starts to allow fluid to bypass internally when pushing pedal down. the slave cyl is located near your starter area on the trans and may be a little difficult to see so you may need to jack that side of your car up to observe its movement.

you will need 2 people to do it one to sit in the car and push the pedal and the other to watch the slave move when pedal is being pushed. if there is absolutly no difference in travel between the 2 conditions then your clutch pressure plate is your likely problem. but it is not a charicteristic of a pressure plate to be good one minute then bad the next.
