Anyway, my winter s13 is driving me crazy.

My throw out bearing was bad, my clutch was bad, and my pressure plate was bad. The flywheel was good. I dropped the transmission and replaced these. When it was being bolted back up, the fork came off the throw out bearing, and wasn't noticed until afterward. Blah.

The transmission was dropped again; this time we made sure the fork didn't slip off.

The slave was also replaced and the hydraulics were bled.

Now the clutch pedal does not return; it goes straight to the floor.

Yesterday, I rebuilt the master and bled it again. The clutch pedal still goes straight to the floor and does not return by it self.

The slave is pushing the fork. The slave is new. The master has a new piston, seals, and spring.

If I want to drive the car, I have to start the car in gear and shift without a clutch. This gets very old and embarassing at stops.

Please; does anyone have any ideas?TIA

Try actuating the fork by hand with the slave cylinder disconnected yet? If it doesnt feel sprung when you try to move it by hand then your throwout bearing / clutch assembly is still not installed correctly :(

I've never worked on a KA transmission but the VG series ones I've worked on all have spring clips that hold the fork to the throwout bearing and and the fork to a pivot ball which the fork pivots over. Have seen a few Zs where that pivot ball has snapped under stress and causes the same symtom you're describing. Hopefully someone with more KA specific knowledge can give you some advice. First things I would check would be the hydraulics but sounds like you did all that a couple times now. The new slave cylinder could be defective as well, maybe?

Have you tried adjusting the clutch pedal?

Xaev, Thanks. The fork actually does pivot back and forth. I think it pivots on a bolt if I remember correctly. The throw out bearing does have 2 clips that help keep the fork in place. The slave is definately good. Thanks again.

Drift Machine, I haven't tried adjusting the clutch pedal. I don't think this would be causing my problem though. I took the arm off when I rebuilt the master, and set the adjustment bolt back to where it was before. I am not sure. Thanks.

i just had the same exact problem today. A week ago, i replaced the clutch and it worked fine. now when i was driving it, clutch pedal went to the floor and wouldn't come back up. I took it to my mechanic friend, and after he checked it out, it turns out that the f@g who replaced the clutch did a half a$$ed job and didn't put the mount the fork back properly... from now on i do my own mechanic work, or get a reputable tuning shop to do it for me.

Just went through the same routine on my car. First time the front cover that the throwout bearing rides on had broken. Replaced that and went for a test drive. Went about 5 miles and had another problem. This time the collar that the T/O bearing is pressed on to was the problem. Where the fork rides there are flat spots. One of them had a rounded corner, allowing the assembly to rotate to that side and not disengage. The symptom was first the pedal didn't return. I pulled it up with my foot and it would go up and down fine but the clutch was slipping badly. Pull the transmission back out and see what you find. I've got it down to about 1 1/2 hours now:)
