when i push in my clutch peddle theres no pressure against it nor does it go into any gear while the car is running it also doesnt spring back up at all it just sits on the floor. thinking it might be my master cylinder or slave but im not sure because ive never worked on a clutch system at all
basically im stuck and would love to fix the problem but would like some ideas as to what to check first before i go and pull the transmission
any help would be greatly appreciated
it happened while i was on the freeway while trying to shift into fifth clutch peddle sank and would not spring back up or let it go into any gear so i was stuck in neutral and had to coast into a gas station and then get it towed back to my house

From the sound of it i think either the line or slave or master, one of them, have a major leak. Well first check to see even if there is any fluid in the master! Then proceed to putting some fluid in, if there isnt any, and then check for leaks. Have someone or depress the pedal, while your checking for leaks!
Also get the Factory service manual for your car and you'll have all your questions answered! Cause people dont like to spoon feed people the info, try searching next time and look through the Factory service manual(FSM).

I don't see how that will effect your clutch mechanism. But I mean unless one of the lines got cut or bent and had a slight leak, then yes. But i had a problem like this with my 90 240sx, mine was that i left the bleeder screw loose on the slave, and on my way back i got on it. Then when i went to shift all the fluid leaked from the bleeder lol!
