Today my clutch felt a lil wierd like the pedal was sticking. When I let off the clutch it would come out slow.....so I checked my clutch fluid and it was at the minimum line so I walk and bought some brake fluid and use that and it works fine for the 15 min drive home. Now two hours later I go to drive to my friends house and when i shift the pedal stayed on the floor completly. I had to lean down and get it off the floor then it snapped back up. I pull over and turn the car off and the fluid is completely empty. I fill it up and start the car and the clutch is doing the same thing any suggestions will be very appreciated thanks.

Could it be the Slave cylinder?

why not bleed it and find out?If that doesn't work, hunt for a leak.

I was searching for ways to bleed the whole system. That's what I want to do.

yea, until it's bled and filled with new fluid, air bubbles can't be ruled out. If you have some massive air bubbles, that could be why your fluid is disappearing, but it's still odd and I'm thinking along the lines of a leak somewhere....looks like someone's going to be messy before the night is over.

Yah i'm thinkin if anything its a leak, if it is a leak would it only leak if you push the clutch in while the car is running or would it leak out all the time while car is off?

check the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder, sounds like it is loose for that bad of a clutch, sounds like when your bleeding the lines.good luck

depends on how big the leak is and where. If it's in the lines and it's a tiny leak, it's only going to be noticeable when pressure is placed on it. If it's leaking internally from one of the cylinders it could act similar also, only leaking when under pressure. My buddy's camaro was eating brake fluid in his brake system and we narrowed it down to a leaky caliper and rear steel line, but they only leaked when he depressed the brake pedal. I found this out by seeing a little fluid the inside of his rear rim and i couldn't find a visible leak in the lines, so i told him to depress his brake pedal and the MF shot me in the side of the mouth. Go under the car near the master and slave cylinders and have someone depress the clutch pedal and see if you can see anything shooting out from the lines or cylinders.

Right in the mouth eh? haha well yah I just called my friend sam to help me, I helped him drop his transmission the other day so he'll help for sure. Just to let ya know how long it took to drain....I left my house and 1 min down the road I pull over to make sure fluid is still in there and it is, 3mins later it's completely gone and the pedal is stuck to the floor.

Oh yah I was gonna say when you try to push the clutch it goes like 1/4 of the way down and then snaps to the floor, to get it back up I pull it and about 1/4th of the way up it snaps right back up fast.

when my car did that, it was the slave. i got under the car and had my gf press the clutch pedal. and it wouldnt push the fork all the way up to shift. now the fluid dissapearing has to be a leak. my other 240 did that. it was the rubber line next to the slave. the leak was so bad it would drip about every other second without pressure. it was bad. the leak shouldnt be too hard to find. be patient...

Has to be a leak... but honestly the amount of fluid to used to do the entire system is like only 1/2 big bottle of brake fluid.. Just converted my auto to 5 speed...take out that bleeder block and go straight to your clutch flex line.. makes it much easier to bleed.... can really only be leaking in a few places... usually at the slave or you would notice it under the hood (it will peel the paint off it left alone)... crawl under your car and look.. clutch system is hydralic and not vacumn assist.. so it will leak without motor on...good luck..BTW.. auto zone sells Clutch MC for like 30 bucks and the slave is a bit more, if you never changed the clutch flex line and it's OE (meaning rubber) it may be time to replace it (like 30 bucks at autozone again).

Actually I just came out from underneat the belly of the beast lol jk jk....it is the Slave cylinder. I noticed the rubber was ripped and I moved the rubber and fluid started flowin.....I still have my SOCH, IIRC they use the same one right? I should just be able to use my old one.

I think so, I'll check to see if it's the same part number and I'll get back to you.

ha, well it's a different part number....which means there is probably some differences, but if you have one laying around..why not try to install it. I'm almost sure it should work, seeing as how so many other things are interchangeable. Hell, you can bolt a 300zx master cylinder and front calipers right up, why not an sohc slave cylinder? try it and tell us if it works out, if one's cheaper than the other then i'll end up buying the cheaper one if it works whenever i need to replace mine.

better yet, I'll see if checkers has them in stock so i can see if there are any differences. I'll let you know when I get back in like an hour.

All they had was the sohc clave cylinder in stock, so i couldn't compare directly, but I looked at pics of the dohc and sohc cylinders and saw the sohc one in person and I can't tell the difference. I'd definitely say install it if you have it.

the bleeder block? if that's what you're talking about, you don't really need it...some people just remove theirs.
