I have an 07 Versa Sedan S, 6 speed, pwr pkg.... While waiting at a red light, I noticed that I lost "pressure" with the clutch pedal. When I lifted my foot, the pedal didn't come back up. Towed for service, they replaced the clutch (bad seal). Now its even worse. Clutch engaging 1/4 inch from floor. Back to service.

Has anyone else had problems? This is a fantastic car. Averaging 35 to near 40 mpg!!!

If it were an old style cable clutch, I would say it's just out of adjustment.

But it's a self-adjusting hydraulic clutch... so I'd be worried that if you had a bad clutch seal, you might also have a bad clutch master cylinder.

Hydraulic clutches are great in that they last longer than cable clutches, and self-adjust... but when they break, they CAN be more complex failures.

Sounds to me like they did not properly bleed the hydraulics. Take that baby back and ask for a "bubble chaser!"

No, that's the crazy part. The service manager said that fluid collected on the clutch so they replaced the cylinder, cover assy and the disc assy.

So a hydraulic clutch needs to be bled like a brake? I've never owned a vehicle with a hydraulic clutch. My trade in for the Versa was a 5-speed 97 Mercury Tracer and I never had a problem with the clutch in it. I've never owned an vehicle with an automatic trans either, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't have purchased an automatic Versa. (but I love that little 6 speed-ha)

Actually, you would be the first case I've heard of with an actual failed clutch on a new Versa. There were a couple of us who had clutch slippage early on, but that was caused by a mis-adjusted ASCD switch on the SL model (part of the cruise system that taps into the clutch hydraulics).

Yeah, a hydraulic clutch works very similarly to a brake system. And air in the system will REALLY screw with its ability to operate.
