So I have been having problems with the clutch lately in my 91 300ZX TT, sometimes it engages high, sometimes it engages low, sometimes the clutch petal goes to the floor and you just think about moving your foot and it will engage, sometimes I can push the petal to the floor and it wont disengage and the car will just stall out, I asked around and everyone said I probably need to bleed it, so when I tried that nothing came out at all, no fluid, no air, it just oozed out a little, so I asked around about that and I was then told I probably need a new master and/or slave cylinder, does this sound right and does anyone have any advice?

That sounds like the master/slave cylinder. You will probably need to replace on of them.

sounds like the master generally suggested to replace them as a pair, is the seals in the master are gone the slave shouldn't be far behind

Slave almost always goes before the master; when water gets into the lines, it sinks to the bottom (the slave/operational cylinder) and pools there, eventually rusting it out from the inside.

It could also be the clutch booster on a TT.

Completely empty the system and flush it through with about 500ml of dot4 synthetic brake fluid, then proceed to bleed it until the clutch is FIRM (http://www.zparts.com/zptech/articles/m ... l#bleeding). then readjust your clutch pedal to ensure you're clutch has enough free-play to allow fluid back into the reservoir upon full release (http://www.specialtyz.com/clutchadj.htm)

If after all this you still get abnormal clutch performance, you're probably looking at a bad clutch booster (http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manu ... t&total=18)

hopefully this will get you back to normal -- shouldn't take much more than an hour to do the first 2 steps, the clutch booster however is a more troublesome diagnosis.

which is why I said it sunds more like the master, but it's cheap enough to go ahead and replace the slave while your at it,
