ok so im fairly new to the site, and ive found it very helpful so far. i know a good amount about motors and body work but this is my first stick shift car and ive had my 240 hatch since august and its a 1990. so my problem is i got in my car this morning on my way to a job interview and i was around the block from my house and my clutch just fell to the floor, my first thought was..greatt now i need a new clutch and im still jobless haha, but then i was think it might just be the clutch cable..does anyone else have any suggestions on what it might be? i really cant afford a new clutch haha

Yeah check the: Master and Slave cylinder. There's 5 feet of metal tubing. Pump the clutch with your hand a few times and look for wetness and dripping. Chances are the rubber wore out some where.

or if you can afford it just replace both the master and slave and put in all new fluid like i will do, done checked the prices here, and i can get master and slave cylinders for $50 in parts. not sure what the prices in your area would be

Well you better check your clutch master cylinder, same thing happened to me where my clutch pedal hit the floor and it was the CMC.

slave cylinder is like 26$. you do know that you can drive a car without using the clutch pedal right? put it in first gear and start the car, that will get you moving, then just shift into the next gear, if you do it right it wont grind, or hell drive home in first gear, its only a half mile. ive had to do this before. my slave cylinder went out not too long ago and thats what i had to do.
