I've got a '95 240SX, manual, with 120k miles on the odometer. I was told, when we bought the car, that it was the original clutch. I took the car out today, and when I first started driving, the car felt like the clutch was slipping. It'd engage ok, but when over about 3/4 throttle, it would start revving to the moon, and accelerate barely. On the way home from getting food, it worked fine. Full throttle, no prob.

I've had a problem with it before, where it would slip for a while after I shifted, like, it would slip and then grab while accelerating, but not immediate. It only happened occasionally.

Its got the optional VLSD, and could this be causing it maybe? I really dont know.

Thanks for your help.

you should get the trans out and inspect the clutch and flywheel for wear before you destroy the flywheel. no matter what it is the source of the prob is in the clutch area due to its not locking up with the engine

120k on the odometer and still running with the stock clutch? That's a lot of miles, I'm pretty sure it's time for a new clutch. I've experienced the same problem with my S14 when I purchased it with 128k.

" but when over about 3/4 throttle, it would start revving to the moon, and accelerate barely."

This is one symptom of a worn out clutch disc. Keep revving but you're only moving at a snail's pace.

And no, the VSLD would have nothing to do w/ the clutch slipping.
