My clutch has been acting up ever since i swapped my KAT into my 240. I come out in the morning ans the clutch is real soft.....after pumping and forcing it into gear it finally starts to move. After just a few minutes of drving...the cluth has no more play...it is hard as a rock. After about 5 more minutes the clutch has adjusted itself so much that my clutch starts to slip. I have bleed the clutch some more and i didn't see any air come out....and i have same problem? Is my master cylinder bad? Please help this is very annoying.

Is the solenoid moving properly when you pump the clutch pedal?

Not really sure then. You could have got some kind of fluid on the clutch during the swap. Usually that ruins it completely.

That would

that would explain the slipping, but not the pedal feel.

Did you bypass the clutch dampener?

no...i don't know how to bypass it. But i have bled it from both the dampener and the slave cylinder. Well it only slips after it has adjusted itself....other than that it holds the power fine

just replaced the master cylinder, then bled the system again. Now it is so bad that with the pedal adjusted all the way out i had to literally use 2 hands to force the car into gear. HELP!!!

I am not sure what you mean by "adjusted itself."

Did you adjust the rod that is going through the firewall and attaches to the clutch pedal?

yes i have used that to adjust the clutch engagement.

When i say the clutch is adjusting itself i mean that when i start driving the clutch has play and is relatively soft.....after driving for 5-10 minutes...the pedal has no play at the top and it hard as a brick.

I had the same problem. What I did was bypass the dampner valve with a SS line and bled the **** out it after re-adjusting my pedal height. I also have brand new master and slave. My transmission is going bad though so it is still wierd but bypassing the dampner valve did wonders for me. Try it, it's only like 35 bucks for a lil line that looks nice. Good luck with the problem. Clutches tend to be the biggest problem on 240's :-D.

And not to threadjack but 240sxowner, what did you have on the car when you ran the 15.5? I have an LSD, full exhaust and intake and I'm going to head out to Moroso in a few weeks and I'm aiming for the 15.5 mark. Thanks.

I had 4.64 gears in the car.....that was it. It was open diff....cone filter, and a SS dual outlet muffler. I should be going back in the next few weeks with the KAT....hoping for 13's

Yeah sounds like air. Kinda like if there is air in your brake lines, if you pump them it will eventually build pressure.

I just ordered the SS clutch line from SPL and a speed bleeder. Total of $27. The line is supposed to bypass the damper where alot of air gets trapped.

air is a definite in the system. The damper box makes bleeding a real chore. Remove the damper box and just bend the lines to meet up with the rubber line if you've got a line bender (pretty cheap at your autoparts store)
