okay so this is what i discovered trying to put my car into my garage.

when the car is off i can put it into 1st and the rest, but when its on i can't put it in any gears. It just won't go into any of them.

So i shut the car off and put it into 1st and then started the car and the car just start rolling without me giving any gas. (i assume its because the car was cold so the rpm was over 1K)

same goes for trying to take it out of 1st. I had to shut the car off and then put it into neutral.

My clutch pedal is basically sitting on the floor.

I have not done any services on the clutch lately...

Any suggestions?

You are having a clutch hyd. failure. It is best to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders at the same time. The clutch being on the floor indicates a lack of hyd. pressure. If this is a 240sx go to f.a.q. on bleeding info. it can be difficult. Or just take it to a reliable shop.

Ok i think i might have found the problem...It appears to leak from behind the clutch pedal......Where rod from the clutch pedal pushes the hydraulic system.....What does this mean.....Any suggestions....thanks

You have a seal in the rear of the clutch master cyl. that is leaking. Replace both master and slave and this should resolve this problem. The bleeding of the clutch can be difficult but check f.a.q. for bleeding.

All you need to do dude is rebuild the master cylinder. Sounds like the problem isn't at the slave. The seals in the master cylinder are shot. You can get a rebuild kit from Autozone for $20. The job isn't all that difficult.

I'd probably go ahead and replace both, I had the same problem and only replaced the master. The next week the slave went out. Better to be safe than sorry.
