I was driving about 90 and I went to shift into 4th gear and when I pressed the clutch in, the pedal stuck to the ground, so I pulled it back up with my foot, and after I did that I couldn't put it back into gear as long as the car was moving. So i pulled over, and when I could put it back into gear, it wouldnt go anywhere and it made a scratching sound like maybe the clutch was slipping. Also something under the car when I turn it on now stinks pretty bad. Normally i would think of clutches just wearing over time and start to slip, but I haven't really heard anything about clutches just out and out breaking. I don't know a lot about clutches though, so can anyone tell me what it might be and what I need to do to fix it?

master or slave went out. replace it and bleed the system, the problem probobly isnt with your actual clutch as much as the system that operates it.
