clutch problem

my 1990 240sx fastback has some sort of problem with the clutch. it's not like normal cars where when you step in and slowly release the clutch half way you gas, mine comes out 3/4 of the way then i could gas it. Anyway to fix this?

sounds like it may be adjusted wrong. make sure it has a little free play in the pedal, 1 or 2mm. you can adjust it by the bolt were it goes to the cutch master (if you need a better explanation, let me know)

1. to check free play: simply make sure the pedal has 1 or 2mm of play in it before it starts to engage, this is measured with the clutch out. just take your hand and lightly move the pedal up and down, it should have some play.

2. the bolt that goes to the master cylinder:start by looking up were the clutch pedal pivots. you will see a fork extending from that and it meets a rod near the end. the rod is threaded, and there is a nut on it that adjusts the pedal in relation to the master cylinder. you can move that in to increase the play or out to decrease it.dont turn that nut too hard, if its not moving make sure it is free to move.

i check under the pedal and everything i couldnt find what you was talking about. i found the rod where the clutch pushes in and out but not the little nut.
