Hey guys new to the forum cause I just got my 240 back from the rents, anyway...

'89 240SX

It sat for a good 3 years and I got it to run but wouldn't engage in gear. I had to force it into gear so replaced the transmission fluid with redline and still no luck.

Replaced the slave cylinder but it wouldn't bleed. Bypassed the clutch dampener box by bending the hardline directly into the slave but when I went to bleed it, it just sprayed fluid. Was doing it by myself so I couldn't exactly see where it was coming from but it seemed like it was coming from the connection from the line to the slave.

Got a replacement line. If you google fr sport auto to manual clutch line you'll see it. It's the yellow one.

Connected directly from master to slave and now it won't even build pressure. Tried pumping the clutch but it would just slowly leak fluid. Tightened all the connections and still no go.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance everybody.

Hey, welcome. Check this thread here (link below). Down a ways, someone mentions another valve to bleed, but I'm guessing that was on the booster tubing box you removed. You might want help when bleeding, or to have a 2x4 or skateboard you can wedge into the pedal to hold it down while you go under the car and turn the bleeder valve.

Thanks!

Yeah I already took that damper box off so I don't have to bleed it. At this point the clutch pedal stays fully depressed. When I originally took the damper box off and had the hard line it definitely was wanting to get pressure but would spray fluid. I'm kind of at a loss.

Hmmm, I put a new slave on last night. The clutch pedal currently sits on the floor (fully depressed). I haven't bled it yet and planned on using the FSM for instruction. I also have the booster tube removed and bent to the hose line. Do you have your FSM? If not, you can download it from here:

If the instruction in the FSM isn't clear, I'll be finding out soon. Good luck to us both!

Well, I got mine going last night. The FSM direction was good. The only bleeder valve I messed with is the one on the slave cylinder. I ended up flushing out all of my old fluid. I'd pump the pedal by hand about 5 times, then put my skateboard between the pedal and seat to hold the pedal down. I go under the car and bleed the valve. Then repeat. After each bleed, you have to lift the pedal up again. The first couple of times there was no pressure, no need for the skateboard, and almost no fluid coming out when bleeding. The pressure built up though and eventually I was pumping with my foot, holding it down with the skateboard, then bleeding until the bubbles were all gone. Then I adjusted my pedal and bled it a couple more times. Did you ever get yours going?

Yeah I've always used a vacuum bleeder plus the pump method. It'll move some fluid!

I fear you cross threaded the hard line to your slave cylinder or something, and its leaking there. The fact that you said it was spraying out when you had it hooked up tells me something is wrong, or your master is shot.
