hey folks, i decide to check up on my clutch master cylinder fluid today to later find out there was no fluid...ahhhhhh!!! all i saw in there was sludges of brake fluid that once use to be there...i can't begin to wonder how i was able to use the clutch without any fluid....

now here's where the problem lies...i decide to add some fluid and bleed the system...in doing so, i end up ruining the whole system. now my clutch pedal doesn't even respond to the master cylinder...when i step on the clutch it goes completely down without no pressure...and doesn't even come up unless i force it up. i pour some more fluid and realize that the fluid didn't go down from the resevoir and the pedal still acts the same way.....

is it a bad master cylinder? should i get it rebuilt???? someone help, i can't drive my car.....sorry for such a long story...

first off, find the leak. check the line and the slave cylinder.

if that doesnt narrow it, rebuild the master. if not, rebuild slave.

bang, new clutch system.

Black sludge in the master is generally a good sign that the seals in the master are going or gone. The fluid probably leaked out of the slave though.

Pretty good bet you need to replace both. They are cheap and easy to do.

Go to autozone and get rebuild kits for both the master/slave cylinders...should be about $20 for both.

did you bleed it correctly. it is a 2 person job. open bleed screw, depress clutch, close screw, release clutch, repeat? if not it just sucked in more air when you released it.

follow what 240kid is suggesting... u dont just pour fluid in there and expect it to work, theres bleeder valves on the clutch dampener and slave cylinder under the car. do a search to find out how to bleed the lines the right way.
