Post

I just found this site while doing a search. So I do apologize that my first post will be a question.

The other morning when I took my son to school I noticed that I could not shift gears. By the time I got home it sounded like the gears where grinding. A few days earlier I had noticed that shifting gears was really hard to do. I put gear oil in, it was empty, and bled the line of air. It seems to have a little bit more pressure but after a few minutes of changing gears it starts to get hard to shift again. Can anyone give me an idea of what else I should try, or what the problem might be.

THANKS!!!!!:D

My friend who owns a garage did that for me. So where ever it's supposed to go is where I'm hoping it went. I read somewhere that sometimes you have to bleed the air out quite a few times. My friends BMW did the same and that fixed the problem. I only tried bleeding mine 3 or 4 times.

the gear oil is suppose to go into the trans it self. the air is suppose to be bled from the brake fluid in the clutch master and slave cyl. if you blead the air correctly and the pedal is still stiff you may have a bad pressure plate. did you inspect the master and slave cyl for leaks? the master will leak on to the floor inside near the cluth pedal. the slave is located on the trans bell housing front side toward the top of trans near where the engine head meets the block.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I spoke to my friend Billy this morning and he put the gear oil in the right place. He had also mentioned something about the pressure plate. We had only been bleeding the air from one side of the car. The master cyl. We're gonna give it another shot tonite and do what you suggested.

AGAIN, Thank you!!! I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I would love to know as much about my car as possible, b/c I plan on having it for many more years. When it runs, I LOVE IT!!!!

When I bought it nobody told me to use supreme gas and I had to replace the O2 sensors about 2 years ago. Argghhh!!!

Didn't know if this info would help, but I am 2 miles shy of hitting 100,000 on the odometer.
