Unless you have any other symptoms of hydraulic problems, I'd call it bad 1st gear synchros. If nothing else, see this as an opportunity to force a good habbit upon yourself. In the eyes of 1st gear synchros, you are a god if you wait until you've slowed to a crawl before you drop it into first. It saves so much wear & tear on them over the years of stopsign after redlight after 1st gear downshift. It's never nice to shift into first while going 30mph. New synchros can do such a thing without complaining, but they'll thank you in the long run if you refrain.
For the time being - if you absolutely must get into first gear while going faster than 2mph, match your engine rpm first. Put it in neutral, move the stick left to prepare to go to first, then let the clutch back up. Now look at your speed and use the gas to try to match the engine rpm so that both halves of your transmission are already spinning at very nearly the same speed. If you manage to get the rpm exact, you'll be able to drop it into first without even pushing the clutch down again at all. It takes practice to get that close though, so for now if you can get it close enough it will be enough aid to your synchros that you can attempt a normal shift with the clutch. If you got it anywhere in the ballpark, the synchros should be able to take if from there.
