I have a 92 240, base model. A couple days ago I went to start the car and once I pressed it down the clutch pedal stayed all the way down and did not disengage. I bled the clutch a few times, and that didn't work, so I replaced the slave cylinder (even though it wasnt leaking I just did this because a guy I work with suggested it) and that also didn't work. So I checked all the lines...no leaks as far as I can tell. It's not the pressure plate because when I bled the clutch it had plenty of pressure. It's also not the return spring on the pedal, I checked that.

I have already done a little research on this, searched a few forums, and everyone seems to think that after everything I've done that the problem is probably my clutch fork or the pivot ball bolt or something like that. W hat do you guys suggest I check before I take it to a professional?

And has the thought of it being a bad master cylinder came into the picture yet? That sounds very likely...

There really isnt anything else to check unless you plan on removing the transmission yourself. But I am not sure I understand. First you said the clutch pedal went to the floor and did not disengage, then you bled the system and it was the same, but you said the pressure plate has plenty of pressure, how do you know that? Is the clutch pedal still staying on the floor?

Just replaced the master cylinder...didn't fix the problem. To clarify the pedal did gain slight pressure after it was bled a few times...just enough to offer a little resistance at the end of the motion.

I think it pretty much boils down to the clutch fork being off the pivot , a project i don't really have the resources to do. The transmission has to come off to fix this right?

So I made an appointment with a local transmission shop, I'm stumped. Any more suggestions?

ok so a few questions.

1. if your buddy presses the pedal, does the slave cylinder move? If so, how far?

2. if the slave cylinder moves, the fork will move as well, pull back the rubber boot on the fork and with a flash light, take a gander and see if the fork is straight or bent. If it's bent, you'll need to drop the transmission.
