I recently found out my clutch pivot ball in my rb25 transmission was broke off. So I ordered the stronger pivot from Rawbrokerage (ricky's awesome with all the help) and i found out that it was too small. After trying another pivot that Ricky sent me and it too being small i checked the thread size and its not the same. I looked up the thread size and found out mine should be M10x1.50 but my transmission threads are M12x1.25. Ricky suggested getting the hole welded up and retapped for the correct size. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or am i the only one? Also would Ricky's suggestion be the best bet or does someone know where i could find a pivot ball with that thread size to work with the existing threads?

Well, if anybody was even going to guess at another pivot ball to suggest, you might want to let people know what thread count/pitch you have ;)

Like in the above post my transmission threads/pivot ball threads are now M12x1.25 yeah i still have no clue why anyone would change the threads to begin with. If anyone can come up with a part that would fit it would be greatly appreciated.

Whoops, I'm a retard. Sorry  Are you sure you have an RB25 transmission? That's pretty weird.

Im almost positive i have an rb25 transmission, looks like all the ones i've looked up online. But still dont know why anyone would go through the trouble of drilling it out and tapping it for a different thread pattern. I've tried searching for a pivot ball online with that thread size but havnt found anything. This motor set is just full of suprises.

Hey Nick, take a quick picture of the shifter plate. Is it angled? or parallel? Or better yet, does the 1 piece driveshaft yoke slide into the rear of the transmission?

i'll go snag some pics right now. I also just came across this thread and which seems to have the same problem i do and his pivot ball also looks exactly like mine. http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277457

I'll post pics in a few.

it looks as if there was a production change right at the beginning of production of the rb25 transmission im assuming. Ricky double checked for me that there is in fact a part number change for the z32 pivot balls from 96+. So looks as if i have an early rb25 transmission that uses the older z32 style pivot ball instead of the more common later model.

ok so i ordered the earlier style from nissan and its the same as the other ones i had ordered. Im still trying to find a match to mine with no success  I've read that a pathfinder uses a similar transmission to the z32. Does anyone have a way to figure out the differences in the pivot balls without me having to order another one? Im probably just gonna have to end up getting the hole welded and retapped for the normal style if i cant find a match.

As cheap as they are, I would just order a pivot ball for a Z32 and give that a shot. It almost sounds like you have a hybrid transmission or somebody changed the plate that the pivot ball screws into. I don't know if the Z32/RB plates are compatable, but it wouldn't surprise me.

thats what i just ordered from nissan was an early model z32 pivot ball and its the same as the two ricky sent me. Im trying to find out if maybe the pathfinders use a different style pivot ball. Im not sure how strong the threads would be if i got the hole welded up then retapped. Would that be just as strong as the factory threads or weaker? I dont really want to take a risk in this area since theres a lot of load on that pivot.

The front cover inside the bell housing from a Z32TT fits on RB25DET and RB26DETT transmissions. It is normally used by the guys doing a pull to push conversion. On the Z32 cover there is an untapped spot above the Z32's pivot ball that can be drilled and tapped for use on RB transmissions.

Thanks for that info. I wasnt positive if the covers were an exact match or not. I already dropped the plate off this morning to be welded and redrilled/tapped for the normal size threads. If something happens with that then i'll order one of those plates.
