Well I just bought a 97 maxima. It has 107K on it. Runs like a champ. Went to my car after work pressed the clutch in to start the car them let clutch out. Clutch came half way out. Took the car home 1 mile. Open the hood no clutch fluid. Two days ago the clutch resivor was full. I blead the clutch line at the slave. Clutch came back for a while them a couple hours later its doing the half way thing again. Its not leaking fluid anymore. When I blead the clutch I couldn't find and trace of where it was leaking from. And no it wasn't wet inside by the clutch petal meets the clutch master. I'm thining its clutch master need to be rebuilt or a new one. I also have the hunch the previous owner used the wrong brake fluid and enlarged the seals.

Where did the fluid go?Whats wrong with my clutch?

Thanks. Nick

the fluid had to have leaked out either at the slave or inside the car where you mentioned. there is no where else for the fluid to go but out. but if it is full and the pedal is not coming up to the top there is air in the lines. you need to find the leak if it keeps loosing fluid and replace that part.

Bleed the system for the second time and still looses pressure after a couple hours. It looks like it has two dampener boxes in between the clutch master and slave. I think one is bad and I think its leaking. I'm going to try tightening it with plummers tape to make a better seal. Nick
