I've developed a clutch noise since last Fall when I bought the car.
Over the last few weeks, I've noticed that whether the car is warm or cold, the clutch makes a very faint "ticking" noise through the length of the motion of depressing the clutch. It sounds like turning one of those "wind-up" toys.
After the car is warm and I've been driving in the city for a while, the clutch makes a spring-like noise as I depress it. There is a specific point where it just "clicks," and I can also slightly feel it through my foot. It seems to get slightly worse the more I'm depressing/releasing the clutch. The best word to describe this is an instant "creak" of a metal spring.
anyone know what it is? I've done some searching and I'm thinking it could be the throwout bearing or simply a plastic bushing around the spring mechanism. I'm asking because I want to spend as LITTLE money as possibel fixing this.
thanks for any help!
