The clutch pedal on my 1993 240sx coupe feels soft but works fine I removed the one part I forgot the name of it that goes inbetween the master cylinder and the slave and bent it so that it is directly to the slave I bled it many times to see if there was any improvement. I replaced the slave and master but still soft. I am thinking because I bought a cheap clutch kit could it be that the pressure plate is just really soft because there is no pressure on the pedal but everything has been working fine on the car for about 16 thousand miles now I am just wondering what could cause it to happen. It annoys me . This is soft soft like you put your foot on the pedal and the pedal will go down without any strength really needed it will come back up but it is not pushing up like it is suppose to and its no where near what a stock clutch feel is like 10x softerThanks in advance

you can adjust the pedal stiffness under your dash. could need a new throw out bearing.

could be contaminated hydraulic fluid too, basically keeps bleeding till it is clear.

How would do you do that I know how to adjust the play but where do you adjust the stiffness. Also I replaced the assist spring that didnt help. I did a whole fluid swap practically it was dirty I think it got dirty again the sesond time I did it di you know what could be contaminating the fluid so quickly plus when I did make the fluid clear it didnt help the pedal feel.

-hole in your line-leaky cylinder-also check your clutch pedal bracket (attached to firewall), near the top, the spot welds are incredibly weak. my pedal bracket actually snapped on me while i was driving. i pulled it out, drilled teh spot welds and put some grade 8 bolts thru it for the time being. when the bracket broke the pedal would go all the way to the floor with almost no affect on the cylinders/fluid.

good luck climbing in there, you really gotta put your head under the dash looking straight up to see it.

heres a pic from when mine broke, this is from the inside of the car the arrow pointing to the master cylinder means it on the other side of the firewall. you cann see the separation i circled, that is supposed to be welded together not open.

Im sure there are no holes because the clutch pedal goes down and it does its job and I have been driving on it for a long time now haha and I know the footwell is hard to be in I could of swore I was in the olympics in the gymnastics competition. But thanks though everything does it's job but the only problem I have is that the pedal feels soft like if I was in traffic I would have no problem because my leg would never get sore but its annoying when you are trying to shift faster or your on an uphill because the clutch isn't exactly where you want to be at. But thanks though.
