(91' nissan 240sx)how damaging is a misadjusted clutch pedal height to the clutch/pressure plate? I just replaced my clutch/master cylinder/slave cylinder, and didn't realize that the previous owner had adjusted the cruise control switch (lowering pedal height to 5 - 6 inches). I finally got it adjusted correctly 500 miles later, now my new clutch seems to be worn and might be slipping.

If you just readjusted the pedal height, i would bleed the clutch lines again. What has probably happened is you moved the pedal 5-6 inches UP away from the master clutch cylinder, creating air in the lines that needs to be bled off. Bleed it at the slave cylinder and at the portioning valve (right before the slave cylinder, bolted to the frame under the passanger seat).

There is a cridical adjustment under the pedal that is overlooked quit a lot and that is the klevis pin in the pedal that goes into the back of the master cylinder for the clutch. In the full pedal up position this pin needs to spin completely free in the hole. Loosen the 12mm nut on the rod of the master cyl. and turn the rod in or out to get the pin free and then tighten the 12mm nut. If this pin is not free spinning the master builds up pressure and can't release it . This keeps pressure on the slave and the clutch won't fully release.

does it matter where the pedal height is, as long as the klevis pin spins freely? My manual said that the pedal height has to be something like 7in - 7.32in. I know that if i lower the pedal height, the clutch feels normal. Not only this; when i drive for a while, the engagment point seems to lower.

by the way, i did adjust for the klevis pin

The pedal height determines the through or travel that the slave moves to release the clutch completely. You may have air trapped in the hyd. system causing the pedal feal.
