clutch pedal engaging to late.

I have been having a problem on my clutch pedal where it waits until my pedal is almost all the way released before the clutch will grab, i have just lately replaced the clutch and master and slave cylinder. the new clutch slips every now and then but it is a result of the clutch grabbing when the pedal hits the the stop. on most other sticks i have had the pedal should grab shortly after you release a fully depressed pedal not when it is nearly fully extended, i am talking i have about a 3/4-1" before my pedal is fully extended, then thats when my clutch will grab, i am not sure what need to be done to correct this, i have tried adjusting the pedal linkage but that does not seem to help any bit. can i get some help as to what i need to be doing, or if this is a normal condition, even though i highly doubt it is.
