2007 1.8 hatchback with 150k miles. Clutch pedal suddenly went to the floor and had to drive it home without the clutch, Took a look down there and it's not the part where the rod connects to the pedal, but rather the other end of the rod that appears to have become disconnected somehow. It goes in and out through the firewall smooth, but loose, with the pedal action (but no return spring action, have to lift the pedal manually).
I am assuming I'll need a new master cylinder. Which needs to come with a new rod and linkage fastener (as the one on there looks pretty worn). Local parts store don't stock it, nor does rockauto.com. Going to call dealership tomorrow unless someone can link me to one online.
But, does the rod on the pedal go directly into the master or is there some remote linkage system in the engine bay? I can't really tell looking under the hood as there's a lot of stuff in the way. Which leads to my second question. Is there anything in the replacement process that would prevent the average shadetree mechanic from doing this ? I did see the technical writeup pdf on this site, but it did not mention any info as far as accessing the part.
Thanks!
edit: I did find http://www.summitracing.com/cart/add/CEB-136-42026 online, but can't tell if it comes with the rod or fasteners, and no option to have it shipped by the weekend.
