OK, 1990 s13 original owner! I know that when you adjust a clutch pedal it should be about 7 1/4 inches from the floor. Well I have had the worst luck with clutches in the last few months & am installing a rebuilt transmission because mine was fried & I think the input shaft was causing my strange problems.
I just installed a Exedy Stage 1 and the clutch was as stiff as a muscle car with a manual clutch. I think depressing the stiff clutch for a few months might have bent the assembly or maybe even where the assembly mounts.
I know it is not the adjustment because the rod is almost all the way out, this is the only way I can get it into gear. I am still on my old trans but want to fix this problem before I install the rebuilt next week.
Any ideas? I also have the switch unscrewed to where the white button part is barely sticking out so that is not the problem. I know that the position of that switch can effect pedal height.
The clutch pedal sits at about 5" from the floor which is about 1 inch lower then the brake & it was about even with the break for the last 19 years before I was driving with this stiff clutch for weeks.
I hope I did not bend something that holds the clutch assembly in place. Is this a problem if when I install the new trans & adjust the clutch where it in gauges about 1 1/2 inches from the floor & it will only lift up to 5 inches from floor. It also looks like it bent a little to the right, on a slight angle.
THANKS
