according to the fsm:Make sure that the clevis pin can be rotated smoothly. If not, readjust pedal free play with master cylinder push rod.why does this matter? i read somewhere that it needs to spins so that the master cylinder can maintain or relieve pressure or something. i just dont see it doing anything.it also says:Pedal height from the top of the pedal pad to the floor directly behind it is 7.32 - 7.72 inches (186-196 mm)is this measured from the front of the pad or back and directly in the middle of the top or to one side? i ask this because the firewall directly behind the pedal varies in depth by up to about .5".thanksluigi

pedal to floor dont matter. what you are after is to have free play in the pedal so it doesnt apply pressure on the masters push rod. but no so much that before you feel pressure under the pedal it is half way to the floor. basically you should be able to move the pedal about 1/2 an inch before you feel resistance.

My 1991 240sx new clutch was slipping so bad I could not move. I went to two mechanics who said it was impossible to adjust hydraulic clutch. My brother (a mechanic) adjusted free play and problem was solved.

i think the position to the floor does matter though, because when i had it closer it started to slip my new clutch
