Well guys it has come time to finally install my swap. Last piece of my puzzle is the clutch. The car is going to be daily driven. Some chatter isnt minded so a 6 spuck sprung hub is not out of the question. So for a budget of around $400.00 which clutch would you guys recommend for a 400whp daily driven setup. So far I have looked at the RPS Max Street clutch and the ACT HD 6 puck sprung or ACT Xtreme w/ Full Face Disk. Any other clutches you guys would recommend. I am running a top mount t3/60-1 with fuel and tunning to match. So I want to be able to use the power when needed.

The full face ACT with the xtreme pressure plate is not a good choice. They try to over compensate for lack of coefficient of friction with to heavy of a pressure plate. I found the 6 puck with the heavy duty pressure plate more street friendly, I ran one with my SR swap. Despite the tougher disk to drive the softer pressure plate makes pedal control easier. My friend runs a full face disk with the xtreme plate in his FD and the pedal pressure is just to high to control smoothly and despite driving a twin plate in my rb 240, I stalled his a few times.

most of those clutches are about the same, it's just the pad material

go to clutchnet and order the 6 puck for the z32 or the older z, well depends on yoru set up but my clutch specialist made me one/told me about them, he said the older z still has the same 250mm clutch diameter

last i remember the disc alone at that site was 150 or something cheaper

I use the ACT Street clutch before on my evo and i love it. But i don't know if that feel the same with what motor you try to put on. I hope that would help you a little.

South bend clutch, end of discussion.

Use the DXD series and retain almost stock pedal feel with holding capacity up to beyond 600 ft-lbs of torque.

go to nissan 300zx stage.. whatever you want. I've been using the stage 2 tze kevlar disc for quite some time and beat the s*** out of it, when i pulled the trans and engine out it looks slightly different than out of the box.

They have badass service and rep. A friend of mine has a rear main seal puke on his z31 and ruin one of the linings on the clutch and we pulled it out and sent it to them and they re-lined it for free.

My spec has been wonderfull. I have 2 friends with turbo KA's, who have had spec stage 3's all the way up to 420 whp and 400 wtq. Love the engaugement, love the torque capacity, and they seem to last long.

Only other clutch I've had much experience with is an ACT 6 puck on my brothers 220 or so whp mr2, which was very nice and lasted forever.. It seemed to have a pretty extreme engaugement as I remember.

My vote is for spec. I think I paid around $390 for my stage 3.

I was going to say south bend, but iirc, they are kinda expensive...wasn't sure if he could get everything for ~400. I have a few buddies around here running them w/o ever having a problem.

Personally, i'm running a Spec Stage 3 Plus and like it, but once this one is fried, i'll probably be switching over to SB
