I know that this si my first post here but I hope somebody is willing to help me a out a bit, as I frequent another forum and nobody has helped me one bit.

I have changed the clutch in my car and it will not disengage. I only replaced the clutch disk, my pressure plate is still the original, I originally did not disconnect the slave from the hydraulic line but have since replaced with a new one. I have bled the new slave a couple of times not getting any air out of it.

My slave is only pushing the clutch fork about 5/8" and I am wondering if that is about normal because it doesn't seem like much to me.

Any other ideas of things to check would be greatly appreciated as my car has been out of comissio for about a week between waiting for parts and many other difficulties along the way.

Thanks in advance.Corey

are you shure you put the fork on the rite side of the throu out bearing?..and are you shure you installed the throu out bearing?are you shure you installed the imput shaft of the transmission into the flywheel area all the way?

thats what i would ask myself if i had your problem...so think clearly..and you may have to backtrack your install to find the problem sire...if ya still need help after that..we are all hear to lend a forum hand..good luck from us nicco clowns!

I know the throwout bearing is installed, I know that the clutch fork is on the right side of the throwout bearing.

Firt off This is on a redtop SR-I have replaced the stock clutch disk with a stock replacement disk for an 89 Maxima-I have replaced the throwout bearing with one for a 92 240sx-I have replaced the slave cylinder with one for a 92 240sx-I am using my old pressure plate that was stock and working properly.

If anyone can tell me why it is not working please let me know.

ok corey..there is sumpin you need to realize...some times you can burn up the pressure plate by overheating the spring element and cousing a loss in clamping force....to find if this is your issue..you will still need to reverse your install and look at the spring element on the pressureplate for sighns of color banding and crystalization of the metal...so any way you look at it...you need to..revers your install to find where you have gone awry...sorry to bare you bad news..but it is what it is...you might allso wana look into your master aswell..to make shure its tranzfering propper pressure to the slave....

I have checked the pressure plate and the spring looks correct, it has not changed colour at all. I had never had a probelm with it before. The reason I had to change my clutch was because all of the splines were torn out of the center of the clutch disk. The clutch always had lots of feel and lots of clamping force, it will now not disengage(if i start teh car with my foot on the clutch and the car in gear the wheels spin). IS there any way I can check my clutch master cylinder. There is no fliud leaking into the cabin at all. Also, I have moved the clutch fork manually, removed the slave and pushed it with a prybar to see if it was just the slave not moving the clutch fork far enough and it would not relaese that way either as I moved the clutch fork as far as i would go and it still did not release. I have been fighting with this for a week and I have already gotten more helpful answers on this forum so I just want to say thank you.

One more thing to note. The shaft that the throwout bearing rides on has broken off. I am awaiting a new one to arrive. by the look of it it has been broken off for a while, including when my clutch was working. Could this be part of my issue. I have the broken peice still in the middle of the peice the throwout bearing mounts to so it is reasonably centered on the input shaft of the transmission and it still pushes on the fingers on the back of the transmission so it still should release.

now that you added some info....you need to pull it apart..and check part numbers ..if you cannot disengage the clutch even if you move the fork with a prybar..then its internal...rip it apart..start over..check partnumbers and look for damage cory..you have to ...its the only way to fix it..good luck man..if ya need more help..we are all here to lend our info.
