Hi All

I finally got my 240 on the road yesterday and it's running great but I've got a noise in my clutch.

If I press the clutch about 3/4 of the way to the floor everything is great, The transmission shifts, no clunks, no problems. The car will idle in gear at this stage without pulling so I believe that the cutch is full dis-engaged.

I can shift into gear and the clutch engages before I'm all the way up and there is no slippage and the car runs great in all gears.

BUT

If I push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor with the engine running I hear a noise, sort of like grinding. I learned quickly not to go all the way to the floor but it still needs to be addressed, I can't drive forever like this.

It's got a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and pressure plate and a Fidenza aluminum flywheel so it's far from stock.

The lines are all well bled, the master and slave are new (replaced during rebuild). I have full slave pin travel when the clutch pedal is depressed.

Is this just a clutch pedal adjustment that I need to make? I wonder if I'm pushing the pressure plate so far in the center that it's interfering with the clutch plate and/or flywheel.

Can I adjust the pedal so that it doesn't engage until the pedal is lower so that it hits the floor before the grinding noise starts?

Jeff

That's a good assumption. I'd say yeah, if everything is working fine, just adjust the stroke of the clutch.
The only thing I think it could be would be if your throwout bearing is too thick and causing it to over stroke, or if the bearing itself is making noise.

Interesting PapaSmurf, I hadn't considered the throwout bearing. It's the stock style bearing pressed onto the stock casting and using the stock fork but the bearing itself was replaced with new when the clutch was installed.

I'll get under the dash and see if I can adjust it so that the pedal hits the floor before the bearing hits the clutch plate.

A quick adjustment of the threaded rod attached to the pedal solved this, I now have a little bit of "slop" at the top end of the pedal travel but no more grinding noise at the bottom.
