My buddy and I went to diagnose the cause behind my clutch master cylinder drying up and forcing me to garage my SR 240. Well after attempting to bleed the system I did find initial fluid present on the slave cylinder boot. There was no sign of a leak under the hood where the master cylinder sits and no sign of paint corroding.
My question is how to diagnose whether my slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder is bad. I am assuming that my slave cylinder is because of the fluid found on the boot. However, after bleeding many times (many more than normal) no pressure ever built behind the peddle. One thing that is funny is that manually pulling the pedal out doesn't cause the slave cylinder to return. It's like it's always pushing out the slave cylinder so that the car is in neutral.
I'm going to replace both the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder anyhow because they both appear original but still wonder which one is faulty.
Also, I'm going to go with the Nabco units since they were OEM and quite cheap but was wondering if anyone had used the stainless steel line that goes from the hard line to the slave cylinder. I was thinking about getting this piece while I'm at it. If anyone could suggest a good place to purchase the parts online I'd be interested as well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
