Clutch line options for Chevy V8 Swaps

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

So I had the clutch line made for the 24hr 240SX today and thought I should post some of the info I found out. GM slave cylinders for both the T5 and T56 use a weird fitting that looks like this (the 1/2 with the O-Ring):The pin slides in in the groove behind the O-Ring to hold it in place. That fitting isn't readily available so to get your clutch working here are all the options I know of:

1. Mcleod makes an adaptor (seen above) that goes from the gm slave fitting to -4AN. The problem is the fitting is $50 which led me to the next option.2. Find a stock GM clutch line and a hydraulic hose shop can cut the hose off and weld another kind of fitting on the other end. Unfortunately I don't have a stock clutch line or time to find one.3. Drill and Tap out the hole in the slave cylinder. This would work pretty well, you would have to find something to plug up the hole for the roll pin though.4. A bump tube. The second hose shop I went to today came up with this solution. They extrude the tubing in a way called a bump tube, then put an O-Ring (or two) in front of it and the roll pin holds it in place. Here's a diagram I made to help explain it:I am NOT saying the bump tube solution is the best one. Just another option I had never heard of. I'm actually doing the clutch line in rubber all the way from the master to the slave. This gets rid of a few headaches with little drawback. Total master to slave cost under $50 and they build it while you wait!

Thanks to Kamin for the first solution!

The hydraulic shop that helped me today said I could come back with a camera and film them making it. So if anyone is doing a swap and wants a clutch line in the next week let me know. I could have them make it, film it, then mail you the finished clutch line.

Im confused as to why this is necessary since they make a fitting that just slides in and goes to a 4 an line and then can be adapted to 3 an and your done with the line. Other than the actual line. I had a steel braided one made for 25 dollars. The advantage of a hydraulic shop locally.

It's not necessary at all, just other less expensive solutions to the same problem. And I thought it would be a good idea to make a clutch line solution master thread. So if anyone has any other ideas post them!

does that wilwood clutch mc come with the adapter plate?

got a 240sx with 327 and tko500. using mcleod hydraulic throwout bearing and do not think the stock clutch mc will displace enough fluidbut that wilwood will with the 3/4 or 7/8 in bore.
