Did a auto-5speed swap 2nd one another s14Except on this one problems..1-clutch stays engaged..(put it into first relase clutch,no stall)2-noise at start up. slight pinging for 1second

Would a clutch disc installed backwards cause this?About to drop trans and troubleshoot..or couldit be the trans itself? used 150k on it.. all new parts used slave/master..

Is the slave moving at all? Have a buddy press in the clutch while you look at the slave. You should see the slave push the lever on the bottom of the transmission. If the lever pushes back when the clutch is depressed then you'll probably have to pull the transmission to investigate further.

I'm not an expert, but I would suggest double checking the throw out bearing assembly was put back together properly. I kinda doubt the clutch is in backwards (I just replaced mine and I don't think it'll all go back together with the clutch plate backwards).

Anyway, that's all I know to check on. Someone more experienced might want to check this and let me know if I'm off on anything.

Hope it helps!
