Ok, so I am finally able to drive my car. To start, I have a new XTD flywheel, a new throw out bearing, a new clutch disk and pressure plate. For the disc and plate, I sent my stock ones to a place called Chester Ave. Brakes to have them copied. The instructions were to build me a clutch that can handle 500hp and was moderately streetable. I received a new disc and plate that both looked pretty beefy. Well on my first 10-20 miles of driving, I noticed that the engine would rev but I felt no pull. The weird part was/is that when I go from a stop it will break loose, shift to second--still spinning, go to third spin till about 9 lbs boost then just rev with no pull. On the freeway, 5th gear at about 65 mph and in vacuum, i step on it---boost shoots to 10 lbs and motor just revs accordingly but no pull (clutch slipping). Now I have a big turbo but im running a stock bottom end with no headwork and 10lbs boost. Could this be the clutch?? It is hard for me to believe that a stock engine could put out enough power to make a brand new race clutch slip. I mean even if this clutch cant handle 500hp, it is better then stock and even a stock clutch should be able to handle the power, i think. Any opinions on this issue? I hate to buy another clutch and have the same issue. One person suggested that the length of the throw out bearing housing could be too long and the clutch stays partially engaged but i think there is only one housing length...is this true? I have included pics of the clutch(100 miles on it) since i pulled it yesterday.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

depends...is it a metallic puck clutch? metallic puck clutches usually don't require break in. However, launching and burning out is a different story. That clutch looks like it's been getting eaten away?? have you been launching hard or burning out? my clutchmaster stage 5 received boost after a 20minute break in but I don't do any hard launches....yet.

You can't launch...I drove easy for 500miles with some highway pulls. But no races and no hard shifting...

Did you bypass your stock dampner?

Three things I can think of. It's possible that if the pressure plate lining is eaten away by the pucks, slipping can occur. However, this seems unlikely within 20 miles of driving.

However, if the shop you used resurfaced a used pressure plate, cleaned it up, perhaps painded the case, and sold it to you as new, it's possible that it may not allow the psrings to be applying enough force to the disc.

Last thing might be if your flywheel was not machined/designed with a proper step, it could cause some issues, but I wouldn't think it would show this soon.

I'm assuming of course that everything else is in proper working order. Clutch pedal freeplay and engagement adjustment, etc.

You probably hit it right on the head bro. I remember we changed the clutch in my buddies car, totally forgot about the dampener and never bled it, we had the exact symptoms.

As soon as we removed that little sucker the car came to life. Also like everyone else was saying hopefully you didn't beat on it right away.
