'Ello.

Here's my issue. I have a new battery, and a new starter (reman rather). I was reading the 240 faq and i read that the clutch interlock switch can also cause poor starting issues. I figured i'd buy it and replace it myself before my car decides to not start on me again. One evening, i parked my car on a incline, when i got in the car, took it out of first, and went to start it. It acted as if my foot was not on the clutch, all my accessories came on and everything. Not until i depressed the clutch pedal a 3rd time did it start. So i'm assuming this is the part i need.

The switch the Nissan parts dealer gave me says 'Speed switch' on the box--is that right? And is the switch i need to replace the one that gets activated when i press down on the clutch? Not the one that gets activated when the clutch is released, correct? I have a FSM and the pic is sort of unclear to me, but i wanted to touch base that this is the correct part i have on hand.

thanks for any info guys

p.s. the car has been starting fine since that night.

the relay is the common fault there. it is blue and has TWO connectors on the bottom instead of one like all the others. it is a special relay and fails all the time. i dont remember what the box says. sorry. i think i remember it being bolted to one of the fenders(under hood). may be called clutch interlock relay(most common term for it).
