i cant fiure this one out guys. about a week and a half ago, my gf was driving to school in my 91, 240sx hatchback (ka24DE) and the clutch peddal stopped working. she pushed it off the road and into a parking spot, i rode my bike up that night and found that the clutch master cylinder reservoir was completely empty. dont know how, but it was. i filled and drove it home. for the next week it acted *alright* not normal, but it worked.

monday comes and the thing has no fluid again, luckily it was at home. i went to autozone and bought a new master cylinder. i repleaced that monday night. until wednesday it worked. this time the engagement point was floating all over the place. in the morning, no pressure, had to pump several times. but midday, the point was at the top of the pedal.

wednesday(yesterday) on my way to a meeting, the pressure drops at the end of my street and i have to push it home. the clutch wont release at all and im stumped. last night i bought a new slave cylinder and put it on last ngiht. my friend helped and we bled the system 3-4 times. it still wont hold pressure.

when i pump the clutch slowly, it wont hold pressure, the faster i pump, the more the pressure builds. if i hold the pedal at the floor the pressure holds, as soon as i release, its gone. after several tries, we removed the (new)master cylinder and discovered it wouldnt hold pressure goin to the hydraulic line. we reinstalled the old one, which did work, but we still have the same problem. this is where its got me. please help.

dude, the line has a crack in it somewhere, or the slave cylinder is bad. fill the mc with fluid, and depress the clutch, hold it down for like 10 seconds, release and repeat. do that 4 or 5 times, and then look under the car to see if there is a puddle of fluid anywhere. if you dont see a puddle, the get under the car, where the slave cylinder is attatched to the bellhousing, and have someone else depress the clutch. what you will probably see is the slave cylinder extending, and slowly retracting even though the other person is still holding the clutch.

basically, if there is no leak in the clutch line, then replace the slave cylinder.

its a new slave cylinder i replaced it last night too. thats exactly what its doing, but its not dripping anywhere. both cylinders are dry and the lines are dry. plus im not losing any fluid.

you still have air. i think there is another bleeder for you clutch lines off the dampner. its a small box to absorb clutch feel. It should be located on the left side of the engine bay. follow the lines from the master to locate it.

Mine has been doing kinda the same thing. The engagement point jumps around. When its cold, it engages very soon after the pedal is realeased. When it gets hot, the engagement point moves up towards the top of the pedal. I talked to the guy that did my 5spd swap and he said it sounds like the fluid is getting hot and not working the way it should be. But its not supposed to do that....He is shimming my clutch master cylinder this week to try and help it. He has adjusted it a few times which made it better, but still is really weird.

the box is under the passenger side door. youll see it if you look far enough. follow the slave cylinder rubber line. youll see a box and a thicker line loop towards the rear of the car. then it goes to the master cylinder. theres a bracket that the rubber line attaches to and then a steel line on the other side of the bracket. remove the two bolts that hold the box in and loosen the hydraulic line from the master cylinder. remove the box and close the gap. no attachemnts or fittings needed(if you do it right)
